How

DID I GET HERE?

Did you start out on a life path hopeful about the possibilities of creating meaningful work, deep intimate relationships, and friendships only to find, somewhere along your journey, that the way became less clear, overgrown, and difficult to find?

Despite your best efforts, do you feel stuck, as if circling back to the same old ways of living? Do you wonder, “How did I get here and how do I find a path forward, one that feels alive, connected and true to my heart?” Perhaps you’re not quite sure where to start or how to connect with and trust your own inner compass to find the way home...if so, you're not alone!

Healing, is really a journey of coming back into relationship with all parts of one’s self...

Healing, is really a journey of coming back into relationship with all parts of one’s self...

Relational

TRAUMA

For many who have experienced early relational wounding, where our needs for connection and attunement, were not consistently met by caregivers, there is a general feeling of disconnection and lack of vitality. This pervasive feeling of disconnection is a result of having had to develop protective strategies to survive. Parts of us took on roles such as caretaking, perfectionism, and independence to cope with the pain of disconnection. Many of us found other ways of self soothing through food, addictive substances, work, sex, or shopping. But as we journey down the path of life, these protective strategies that once saved our lives by creating distance from our bodies and emotions, now tend to create more suffering.

Healing, is really a journey of coming back into relationship with all parts of one’s self, understanding the good intentions of our protective parts, and healing the young parts of ourselves that hold grief, anger, fear, and shame. This healing journey is a way of offering ourselves the deep presence and attunement we have longed for all our lives.

If you know there is more connection and ease possible than what you are experiencing now, and you know that you want to change, but don’t quite know how, please reach out now to schedule a Complimentary 15-20 minute Consultation with me.

I'VE

been there!

MOIRA MCNAIRNAY MSW, RSW - CERTIFIED INTERNAL FAMILY SYSTEMS (IFS) THERAPIST

I’ve been in the thick of not knowing which way to turn, feeling disconnected and untrusting of my own inner knowing.

At age 29, I was lost in the woods of my life, disconnected from myself, in an unfulfilling marriage, struggling to build my career and feeling deeply unsatisfied, lonely, empty, and depressed. I longed for a greater sense of connection to myself, for more connection to my vitality, and for nourishment from my relationships and my work. I had a small inner voice that knew more was possible, but I had no idea how to get there.

It has been a journey finding my way home... I'd like you help you too, get in touch for a Complimentary Session.

I would strongly recommend Moira for counseling services to anyone. Her straight forward, compassionate, capable demeanor custom tailors her game plan to her client's needs. Years after sessions with Moira, I still use the techniques and strategies she taught me. I went in a skeptic and emerged a better more mindful person, who has adopted many of the tools Moira gave me into my daily regime. I cannot put into words the gratitude I have for her.

Andrew D. Calgary, AB

I have had an opportunity to have Moira as my counsellor for the last two years through an extremely challenging and difficult time in my life. I have been healing from multiple family traumas, loss, complex grief, family fracture and recurrence of severe PTSD. Throughout these times Moira has been my support and guide with incredible compassion, care and wisdom. She held space for the painful process that l was going through with dedication, warmth and encouragement believing that l can heal and keeping the hope alive that my family relationships can improve. I was able to share my most painful experiences and feelings and move into a path of healing.

Grace D. Cowichan Valley, BC

A deep, experienced therapist who has done her own inner work for decades, Moira’s presence evokes relaxation, healing and connection for her clients. She is a senior psychotherapist in her field, specializing in addiction recovery, trauma, and attachment. I have known Moira for over a dozen years, and love her work, her wisdom, and her ability to help people come home to themselves.

Katrina F. Colorado, US

I have been seeing Moira for over two years now, I have a son with Mental Health and Addiction issues. Moira gave me the venue to share my fears and hopes for my son. I had sessions both during horrible heartbreaking times and during calmer times. Moira was always very supportive and helped me work deeper into the issues at hand, always following my lead of what I can handle. She provides a very professional yet very supportive safe environment. I have gained valuable tools to help both myself and my son through our visits. I appreciate her dedication to her work and know she is constantly improving her skillsets through trainings and practice. I highly recommend her.

Bonnie T. Cowichan Valley, BC

My work with Moira has been an illuminating process. She provides the space and context for me to do the work that presents itself. I don’t always know beforehand where the process will take me however Moira is always supportive and grounded. As a result my work has been deep and rewarding.

Shawn H. Victoria, BC

I know Moira both personally and professionally. One of Moira’s gifts is her way of slowing right down, in order to be present with others. She has a genuine curiosity about what is going-on for others in their struggles. As a friend, I have grown simply through spending time with Moira. Her curiosity has helped me become more aware myself and more accepting of my struggles, and of my gifts, as a human being. As a colleague, I admire Moira’s deep commitment to mindfulness practice and evidence-based practice, as well as her willingness to support her clients in finding their own inner wisdom and healing.
